Step 1: Register Your School

High Schools

All high schools must register a Mu Alpha Theta chapter to compete in FAMAT. National registration fees are one-time-only.

All Schools

After expressing interest above, you'll be assigned a school code. Florida is divided into 5 regions to minimize travel distance for competitions - the first digit of your school code indicates your region.

  • Region 1: North Florida
  • Region 2: North Central Florida
  • Region 3: East Central Florida
  • Region 4: West Central Florida
  • Region 5: South Florida

Step 2: Set Up Your Portal

Once you receive your login information, sign in to access the links below.

Account Setup

  1. Set up your contact information - Used for FAMAT communications
  2. Complete your school information - Visible to other sponsors

Step 3: Enrollment and Finances

Student Management

Manage students and finances through your school page.

  • Add/remove students anytime
  • View account balance and payment history
  • Generate invoices if required by your school

Current Dues

High Schools:
$15.00 per student
Minimum: $150.00 per school
Middle Schools:
$150.00 flat fee
Note: Competition fees are collected separately by host schools and do not appear in your portal.

Step 4: Engage Your Students

Student Communities

Connect students with the Student Delegates, who provide:

  • Online communities (Facebook, Discord)
  • Fall online competition
  • Regular season meetings and events
  • State Convention activities

Academic Integration

Consider offering:

  • Competitive math meetings or classes
  • Mu Alpha Theta service opportunities
  • Student leadership at your school

Competition Calendar

Fall (November)

Fall Interschool - Team competition available online during the event period.

Winter (December)

Hiller/Nunn/Dostal Tests - Individual mail-in competition.

Spring (January-March)

  • Regional Competitions - Multiple host schools, same date
  • Invitational Competitions - Single host school, open statewide

Registration Process

  1. Register online through the competition listing
  2. Host school will handle further communication
  3. For regional competitions, request region changes via the Sponsor Packet if needed

Step 6: Attend Competitions

For Students

  • Participate in individual and team competitions
  • Attend Student Delegate meetings at lunch
  • Join mini-events like Countdown
  • Meet other mathematics students

For Sponsors

  • Lunch provided at competitions
  • Expected to help with one competition round
  • Tasks include proctoring or monitoring
  • Network with other math educators

State Convention

The pinnacle of the FAMAT season, held annually at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando.

Academic Events

  • Topic-specific competitions (Logs & Exponents, Probability, etc.)
  • Brian Holt Computer Competition
  • Individual and team competitions

Student Delegate Events

  • Scrapbook and Poster competitions
  • Student Delegate award ceremonies
  • Integration Bee
  • Delegate leadership elections
